Little Skookum House

A grandfathered oyster farming operation in the south Puget Sound fixes the footprint of this new home on Little Skookum Inlet. The resurrected  structure maintains a seafood and maritime heritage feel while extending the life of this waterfront site as a full-time residence. Large windows throughout provide a ‘living on the water’ experience that brings the theater of the ever-changing water, light, clouds, and surrounding wildlife into everyday living. Great care was taken with the site development in managing a small wetland; collecting rainwater for controlled dispersion; restoring native vegetation; and generally becoming a more sensitive neighbor and steward to the inlet and adjacent tribal lands.
